Fashion Experience

Fashion Experience

We frequently get contacted by people starting out in their fashion careers asking if we know of anyone looking for interns. People looking for experience with designers, magazines and publishers etc.  It can be difficult to get valuable work experience, especially outside of London, when it comes to the fashion industry.

Services like @ukfashionintern have become an effective online meeting place and information destination when it comes to national opportunities, but there isn’t always a lot going on outside the UK capital. So, we’d like to see what we can do to help on a local level as well.

If there’s any fashion business – retailer, designer, publisher, blogger, marketer out there in Wales, looking for talent, enthusiasm and a keen drive to impress then please get in touch and we’ll see if we can help put you in touch with local talent looking for a break.

If you have an opportunity available even if it’s just for a week’s unpaid experience, it can make all the difference to someone starting out.  We know the fashion industry has been accused of taking advantage of new talent  with the offer of long-term unpaid opportunities. But we also understand the need to get the balance right for employers.  It has to work for both parties and interns do also need training and support throughout their placement, as that’s the whole point.  We also don’t support employers who just get the interns to make the tea and do the photocopying,

At Cardiff Fashion, we report on anything fashion that takes our fancy, whether it’s local or global, but we’re also really keen supporters of new and emerging local talent, something we’ve had the privelige of seeing a lot of since we started over 5 years ago.

Please get in touch if you have an opportunity that may be relevant, we’d love to hear from you. Email: cardifffashion@nullgmail.com

A lot of appreciation for this post! Currently working towards a masters in fashion marketing and am really struggling to find any internships in Cardiff/Bristol.

Will be checking back for updates! 🙂

I love fashion but all marketing opportunities are in London, as I have a family I need to stay in Cardiff. I met Gwyneth at the University of South Wales where she gave a talk for my New Media Communication module. I hope to obtain a position in marketing as I’m currently gaining experience in the charity sector.

    I’ll keep in touch x
