Glitter Show Pics
Well if you didn’t make it, the Glitter Fashion Show happened on Friday. It was held at the Cardiff Central Library, and I’ve got to say, what a great venue! There should be more events like this held there. Collaborative projects like this can bring together elements that make for an interesting outcome and and this event was a great success and a truly enjoyable evening.
There were all sorts of freebies on offer before the catwalk show kicked off. Pampering, which included nail treatments, hair and make-up, threading for eyebrows, henna tattoos and more. There was a free glass of bubbly for everyone, a chocolate fountain with strawberries, grapes, and doughnuts for dipping, cupcakes and other nibbles. There was also a great trends presentation by Angela Biggins, who heads up the Fashion Promotion degree course at the Uni of Glam.
Then there was the catwalk show, creatively guided by Tom Clulee, who heads up Fashion Design, with collections from the Uni of Glam Fashion Design students. A mix of looks from various projects created during the degree course, the collections included a series of conceptual jackets in white calico, garments designed for a recent Peacocks project and some final collection pieces from recent graduates.
The catwalk itself included a route through the library and then up and down the long escalators, which was certainly unique.
The looks were innovative and showed a breadth of talent and skills that was impressive. Models were supplied by Kirstie Howells and were gorgeous, hair was by Vidal Sassoon, and Make-up by MAC.
